Our Methods

The following information on methods and fees should be read in conjunction with our Terms of Business, of which it forms part.

Our services fall into two groups:

Where the Client interviews  (Candidate search service)

Candidate Search is conducted on a contingency basis with no up-front fees or expenses of any kind (unless agreed with the Client, in special circumstances).

Where we interview  (Selection assignment service)

Selection Assignments and Executive Searches require the payment of staged, up-front fees: and are conducted on an 'exclusive' basis.

The Candidate Search Service

We take a detailed brief, in person or by telephone, conduct the computer search, select and contact candidates, check availability and interest, arrange interviews and assist the process through to completion - if necessary acting as 'go-between' in the final stages.

No up-front fees are charged for the Candidate Search service.

Permanent Appointments - a fee based on Initial Annual Remuneration will be agreed individually at the briefing stage, before we start work, but will be charged on appointment only in line with the terms of business as relevant to Candidate search.

Short Term Assignments (STA) - a fee is charged on appointment - and when extensions are required - linked to the duration of the tenure, calculated in 3 monthly modules. This provides flexibility when projects or interim positions such as maternity cover need to be extended. The contract is always 'close-ended' in that the total fee chargeable for a given appointment is capped. This applies whenever the tenure exceeds 9 months or becomes permanent.

Special circumstances can be reflected in tailored contracts. Please refer to our consultants and our detailed Terms of Business which are available on request.
 

Selection Assignment and Executive Search

The difference between these two methods is that the former involves advertising while the latter is entirely research based. Otherwise the steps are similar: starting with a visit to take a detailed briefing about your organisation and culture and the particular role within it. In the case of Selection Assignments we create copy for the (Client paid) advertising and advise on media selection. We are normally responsible for all contacting and initial interviewing. We submit details of shortlisted candidates, accompanied by interview notes matching the candidate with the specification. Our aim is a shortlist of not less than three suitably qualified people. We organise and follow through the selection process as directed by the Client, acting as ' go-between', if necessary, in the final stages.

We can take up references on your behalf, if you request this - but recommend that this be done, in normal circumstances, by the employer.

Under both methods we continue until suitable candidates are appointed. For Executive Searches, where confidentiality precludes advertising, our substantial database gives us a head start in researching particular sectors and specialisms.

Fees are payable at three points: on retention, at shortlist stage and on appointment and are based on Total Initial Remuneration.
